Choose Small Items. If you live with average sized people, you really do not need big fixtures. Big toilets, tubs, faucets, showers and sinks would look terrible in a small bathroom. They will also eat much more space. The fixtures should be appropriate to your size but nothing more. You should choose the smallest size of all fixtures that will fit you and your needs. The visual impact and the actual effect would be a small bathroom that is roomy and unobstructed.
Using baskets and small bathroom cabinets can be fun and can spruce up your small bathroom. You can gather hand made soaps into small baskets as well as small towels or even a small basket plant. For my child’s bathroom, I took a colorful basket and rolled up all of his washcloths and placed them stragically into the basket and placed it on the counter. This gave his bathroom a little more of a personal touch without making it look too frilly. Baskets are great, just make sure to pick out the smaller ones or the oddly shaped ones will work too, making sure to not over stuff your bathroom with too big of a basket.
Never underestimate the power of mirrors. Placing mirrors on the walls will help to make the room appear much larger. With the use of decorative frames, you can complete a luxurious bath room that will be a pleasure in which to spend time. Combine the use of mirrors with slim cupboards and vanities and you will make your small bathroom easier to move around in.
Use Collapsible Shower Screens. This is another way of conserving space. If you have a small bathroom, chances are you will hardly have space if your shower area is enclosed in a non-collapsible shower screen. These show screens may range in different styles. There are foldable types and sliding types. You may even use curtains for the division. This is an essential thing you can do if you want to clear up some space for your small bathroom design.
Most small bath rooms lack places to hang towels and clothes. By finding matching towel rails and hooks you can improve the amount of space available. Nothing looks worse than towels lying on the floor and dirty laundry in a corner. Get rid of the laundry basket and hang up all the towels on beautiful rails for an instant bathroom facelift.
Vertical Space: Take advantage of the vertical space available in your small bathroom. Instead of a vanity unit consider incorporating a tall storage cabinet. This will give you a lot more storage by taking up the same amount of floor space. A vertical towel drying rack is also a great solution. This will give you more space for your towels without taking up an entire length of wall.
