Using baskets and small bathroom cabinets can be fun and can spruce up your small bathroom. You can gather hand made soaps into small baskets as well as small towels or even a small basket plant. For my child’s bathroom, I took a colorful basket and rolled up all of his washcloths and placed them stragically into the basket and placed it on the counter. This gave his bathroom a little more of a personal touch without making it look too frilly. Baskets are great, just make sure to pick out the smaller ones or the oddly shaped ones will work too, making sure to not over stuff your bathroom with too big of a basket.
Use Your Door. A common error with small bathroom owners is that they tend to be focused on their walls that they forget that they have a door. This door is actually more useful than acting as an entrance and exit. You can install some towel and clothes hangers at your door to conserve space. This will also give you more wall space for your small bathroom design.
Vertical Space: Take advantage of the vertical space available in your small bathroom. Instead of a vanity unit consider incorporating a tall storage cabinet. This will give you a lot more storage by taking up the same amount of floor space. A vertical towel drying rack is also a great solution. This will give you more space for your towels without taking up an entire length of wall.
However, you don’t even need to change tiles, mirrors or cabinets to bring about the perfect small bathroom. A cheap, quick plan would be to cover all exposed plumbing. Nothing looks worse than painted pipes and exposed brackets under your basin. By fitting a vanity under your basin you can cover up the unsightly pipes and give your small bathroom a modern, quality look. The same goes for toilets. The exposed plumbing can make your bathroom cold and uninviting. A cabinet around your toilet and cistern will instantly transform the look of the room.
Decorate with Small Things. Space restriction is not your only problem. You would also most likely want your bathroom to be ideal for relaxation too. You would probably be more comfortable in a bathroom that looks and smells nice. How can you improve on the appeal and appearance of your bathroom without adding unnecessary features? You can actually use small accents for it. Choose small appliqu designs for your tiles. A couple of scented candles and soap around strategic places can also help improve the general impact of your bathroom.
Lighting: Adding sufficient lighting levels can be a simple addition to any small bathroom remodeling project. For general overall lighting consider recessed ceiling fixtures. This type of fixture is a great way to expand the height of the ceiling. Surface mounted fixtures as well as hanging pendants can make the ceiling look lower and the space feel more crowded.
